Hyperion RC

Published by Mateusz Miciński on

Hyperion is a steel roller coaster from the hyper coaster category with a classic chain hoist. It was produced by the Swiss company Intamin and put into service in Energylandia on July 14, 2018. Thus, Hyperion is the highest and fastest roller coaster in Energylandia, and even in Poland!

The height from the ground to the highest peak is 77 meters, but the fall is as much as 82 meters, because the track was led through a tunnel. During this decline, the cable car reaches a dizzying speed of 142 km/h. It is worth adding that Hyperion is the second highest and second fastest roller coaster in Europe. In turn, on a global scale, Hyperion is the tenth fastest and eighth highest roller coaster.

Description of the Hyperion ride

After leaving the station, the train immediately begins its 35-second ascent to the main elevation, 77 meters high. From the top, Hyperion goes down 82 meters and at an angle of 85 degrees. At the end of the exit there is a tunnel, at the end of which a photo is taken.

Then the train goes over a hill about 45 meters high, on which we feel strong negative overloads (ejector airtime). After the ascent, we overcome the relapse on the only Twist and Dive inversion. Then the Hyperion cable car goes over a low hill with a strong left bank and the second hill with negative overload. Then, Hyperion climbs the second highest hill with an overload of 0 g, after which it makes a U-turn, a low rise, and a hill with a strong tilt to the right. At the end of the ride, the cable car turns right, slalom is low to the ground and another low slope. The Hyperion ride ends with the last hill with strong negative overloads and the effect of splashing water (on hot days). On the braking section, we experience strong braking, after which the queue, turning right, returns to the station.

My personal experience during the Hyperion ride

I place Hyperion in second place in the TOP 10 best attractions in Energylandia. Just because it’s less intense than Zadra. We don’t have time to catch our breath in Zadar, everything happens very quickly there. In turn, on the Hyperion the overloads and speed are definitely higher, but also longer. Personally, I love Hyperion for its very strong negative overloads. The effect of falling out of the chair is probably the greatest of all attractions in the park here. This is especially noticeable on the slope, on the second climb and inversion (U-turn). However, after relapse, the effects are slightly weaker, but not weak enough to make them boring.

The effect of falling out of the chair is enhanced by modest security features. On Hyperion, we are only secured with a lap bar (thigh lock). The top of the body is completely relaxed. If we also sit on one of the two middle armchairs, our legs will hang freely. Believe that then the negative overloads are cosmic.

I recommend that you sit in the front row if you want to pass the ride with the best view. Tilting the train over the top and looking at the abyss makes an electrifying impression. This is an 80-meter drop! In my opinion, the ride on the side seats is the worst, because we can rest our legs on the floor. On the other hand, you can feel the momentum in the rear rows, the way the queue is pulled, but the downside is vibrations that spoil the comfort of the ride.

How long is Hyperion waiting for?

Hyperion is an attraction that enjoys great interest. In high season, they like to queue up on it for up to 60 minutes of waiting. However, in the off-season there should be no major queues. We should go up after 10 minutes at the most, and sometimes I even managed to climb Hyperion from the march.

Access to Hyperion
Access to Hyperion

If you are going to Energylandia on vacation and you want to complete Hyperion, do not go for it either after opening or before closing. These are usually the biggest queues. Go back to Hyperion more or less in the middle of the day, so between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. it will be best. This is the period in which you can count on the shortest waiting time.

Entrance boxes at Hyperion

The entrance to Hyperion is on the right side of the courtyard. We go through the capital letter O from the word Hyperion. After entering the building, we must use the deposit lockers in which we put all our personal belongings. Then we go through the metal detecting gates and use the stairs to go to the staircase.

In high season, we usually have to climb 4 floors, and then 4 floors down the stairs, until we reach the entrance boxes for the attraction. In the off-season and on days when the park is scarce, the upper floors of the staircase are locked and it is enough to enter the second floor. This shortens the time needed to reach the attractions, and at the same time reduces our fatigue.
